I write about violence in my forthcoming book, particularly about how it surrounds us in rural America. Really, it surrounds us everywhere in America. We learn to accept violence as normal, and that has dire consequences.
As the nation continues forward in an election that has long been surrounded by explicitly violent language, and that now has experienced explicit political violence, more than ever we we need to recognize the importance of standing up against violence in speech and action, in every facet of our lives.
